There was a recent claim that Val Kilmer was suffering from cancer. All of this was speculation, until Kilmer made a public appearance on Thursday. The actor struggled to speak, during his public appearance. Actor, Michael Douglas claimed that Kilmer was dealing with the same issues that he had. Douglas went on to say, “Things don’t look too good for him.” Afterwards, Kilmer denied those comments that were made.

Douglas was battling with throat cancer, but he recently announced that he no longer had the tumor on the base of his tongue, during an interview with Matt Lauer. Kilmer responded to Douglas’ claim by posting a comment on Facebook: “I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed. The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago, when I asked him for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat, which prevented me from continuing a tour of my play CITIZEN TWAIN. I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever. I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily.”

On Thursday, those that follow Kilmer were able to see first-hand the swollen tongue that Kilmer spoke of. Kilmer was in Los Angeles, presenting is one-man play titled, “Citizen Twain”. According to People magazine, Kilmer told the crowd, “I went into rehearsals, down in Florida and started having trouble with my speech. Obviously, I’m still recovering. My tongue swelled up and I cancelled the tour. As I’m recovering, I’m showing this.”

Kilmer made sure to deliver a special thanks to his fans, through Facebook: “Thanks to all those of you who came out to say hello and watch my film on Mark Twain last night. That standing ovation is going to fuel me for quite a while. It was humbling and I’m grateful. Especially because it’s such an emotional and sobering time for so many people.”
